How to Take Care of a Dog

First, let your dog out of its sleeping crate. Crates are good uses for beds, when you leave the house, and when they're naughty. Give them some affection to show that you love them. Don't force it if it barks or pulls away; take a break and try again later

Feed your dog breakfast. Like people, dog want some too. You can find pet bowls and pet food at your local pet store. If your dog has NOT had all its teeth come in, you might want to consider buying canned food or wetting the food with water until they all have come in. Teach your dog manners by having them use the command sit before feeding them. Once they have sat for five second, give them their food.

Give your dog a walk. Dogs enjoy being outside to smell new smells, see new sights, and simply to walk. Start by buying a 6 foot leash and some poop bags. You can find these at your local pet store. Have the dog to the left of you and let about a 4-5" slack on the leash. To run or jog, hold on to the edge of the leash and run, letting your dog be in front of you. If you don't do that, the dog may run into the street and get hit by a driving car not just leading to death, but painful tears.

Take your dog home and play with it by throwing a ball. If your dog ever participates in hunting, like a German Short-haired pointer, do not play games like tug-of-war. If your dog gets a bird and you try to take it, it may turn to tug-of-war.


Feed them.

• (Puppy) Feed your dog until it is full.
• (Adult) Feed your dog 2 cups of food.

Leave your dog in its dog house when it's time for you to go to bed. Lock your dog in its crate!

Tips

• Make sure the commands aren't too similar as your dog may get confused. eg. Sit Down and Lie Down.
• Always praise your dog if they obey your command. Stroke them and say "Good Dog!". They will like the attention and want more.
• Dogs will love you forever if you treat them correctly. Whatever you do, NEVER hit your dog or abuse him/her in any way. Also, never taunt him/her as it will frustrate them and they will begin to dislike you.
• Reward them each time they obey your command. Use small treats and remember not to over feed your dog.

Eats dogs

On some Swiss farms, no animals are safe from the dinner table.

According to a report by the Swiss newspaper Tages Anzeiger cited by The Local, some farmers in rural parts of central and eastern Switzerland enjoy a slice of cured dog or cat meat from time to time.

"There's nothing odd about it", one farmer in the Rhine Valley said. "Meat is meat."

The most popular breed of dog for eating is a close relative of the Rottweiler, according to The Local.

The Daily Mail notes that surveyed farmers spoke about their unique eating habits on condition of anonymity, fearing the reaction from cat and dog devotes.

A PETA spokesperson told The Huffington Post they were surprised to hear that canines and felines are eaten in Switzerland, which is known for its progressive animal welfare laws.

"It's shocking to hear that this would occur in Switzerland, a country known for its progressive animal welfare laws and where a minute number of people are actually eating cats and dogs," Jane Dollinger said in an email. "Switzerland was the first country to ban cages in egg production, mandate that horses and cows have regular exercise outside in summer and winter, and require dog guardians take training courses to learn how to care for their canine companions."

But Dollinger urged meat-eaters who would look down their noses at people who eat dogs and cats to reconsider.

"When it comes to feeling pain and suffering, there is no difference between a dog or cat and a cow or chicken," Dollinger said. "PETA encourages those who are bothered by this story to try to relate to who is on their plate and consider going vegan in 2013."

The hound group was developed hundreds of years ago to assist man in hunting for food and sport. Few dogs have a developed vision and are known as 'sight hounds' or 'gaze hounds'. They are the fastest and the tallest of all ancient breeds. They use their sharp eyesight to find the prey and run down to catch it with swiftness and agility.
